Newbie front-end lawyer

I decided to venture into front-end development last year 2020. I had just completed the one-year mandatory National Youth Service Scheme in October 2019, but still continued practicing and volunteering at my primary place of assignment for four months, while searching and applying for legal jobs.

I made up my mind to stop going, and I had to ask myself questions pertaining the next step to take as regards my future. Questions such as: “do I really enjoy litigation? Do I enjoy active practice? Can I try something different from legal work?” I mean I love being a lawyer, but I just wanted a job where I can work remotely, and not necessarily have to be within the confines of an office environment, while still earning money.

While I was contemplating all these, covid19, a deadly virus emerged, which threatened the existence of humans, the government declared lock-down, in order to curb the spread of the virus. No one could go out to work, court was on lock-down. Most things have to be done online, during those periods.  It was at that point I began to search for the kinds of job that can be done remotely, and I discovered I would love coding.

The decision was not made immediately, I was afraid to start all over again, I mean I did not study computer science, how would I cope? My friends gave me the necessary support and made me realize I could do it. With the ease of the lock-down, I enrolled in an ICT academy, for the sole purpose of being a web-developer.

I have never regretted making the decision, sometimes it is fun (especially when I have to use CSS), sometimes challenging, when trying to fix a bug and that may take more than a day.

On this page, I will be posting projects that I have worked on.
